I am a PhD Candidate in English who offers tutoring for essay writing and exam preparation (ACT, SAT, AP English, and the GRE), as well as Latin from beginning to advanced levels.

My credentials include more than five years of experience teaching college composition and critical writing, three years of experience as an AP English Literature Exam Reader (i.e. grading the AP English exam), two years teaching college Latin (101, 102, and 201), more than eight years spent studying Latin, and several relevant degrees, including a M.A. in English Literature, a B.A. in Ancient Studies (Latin and Classics), and a B.A. in English.

Specialties

English: Essay writing (including college admissions essays), ACT/SAT verbal exam preparation, AP English exam, GRE, critical reading, written argument and analysis

Latin: Beginning to Advanced Latin (through the fourth year of college study)

French: Beginning to Intermediate French. I am fluent in French at a conversational level and can teach both oral and written French to an intermediate level. I spent a year in Reims, France teaching English in a high school from 2005-2006 as well as the summers of 2004 and 2005 studying the language in southern France. I studied French for more than eight years in school and college and I continue to use it for research and personal interest

About Me

I work primarily on the literature and languages of the European Middle Ages, and I read Latin, French, Old English, Middle English, and Old Norse as an integral part of my research.

Lafayette area, Indiana, with other areas possible depending on distance and travel time.

Rates

$25/hour in the Lafayette area, with negotiable rates outside of that area depending on distance and travel time. One to two meetings a week is recommended, but more often is possible.
